Gene Edwards, author of The Tale of Three Kings wrote a shorter but equally potent book entitled, The Prisoner in the Third Cell. The subtitle expresses the point of the book – “Will you follow a God who does not live up to your expectations?” This very “quick read” is a highly engaging story of John the Baptist illustrating the faith-stretching experiences of many Christians whose prayers are answered very differently than expected. The book is available at Amazon for under $10 and is well worth your investment.

The Purpose of the Church by Dr. Jerry Nelson
Church—Why bother? Most of us long to be different and to have our lives changed. According to God’s word, the change we long for and the relationships we covet are found in the church because that is the way God made us. Christianity is not only a private affair between God and the individual. We are converted, save and born again into a community—a community of faith, the body of Christ, the Church. Come, join the community of God—The Church!
Romans by Dr. Jerry Nelson
Paul‘s greatest written work, his magnum opus, is the book of Romans. It is the most comprehensive and systematic declaration of the Christian faith of all the books of the Bible. It is a letter, a letter written within thirty years of Jesus‘ resurrection, to the church in Rome. It begins and ends as a letter but between it reads more like a theology primer, setting forth the basics of becoming and living as a Christian. Prepare to be changed as you read.
Why do we celebrate the Lord‘s Supper? Should I be baptized? Why? This study answers those questions and more as it enlightens readers to the gifts of the tangible elements of faith.
What a gracious command of our Lord that He would tell us to be baptized to make tangible and physical for us so much of what it means to be a Christian.
