The Book of Malachi burns through our expectations of God and re-orders our thinking. God loves us and sets out to tells us that and then moves on to address marriage, divorce, justice, giving, heaven, and more. Malachi calls us, like his first readers, to stop being quiet hypocrites rebelling against the authority of God in our lives. God calls us to change our mind and to repent: to agree that we need the healing of our souls and to seek His mercy, ask His forgiveness and accept His grace. God’s call is to us—we who call ourselves God’s people. He wants to revive us, save us, and restore us to Himself. Will we respond to His mercy today?
